Des Coppins – Guest Selector
Des three selections for us last week all ran in the money, but without winning – but as he points out below, his overall tipping service threw out 10 winners last Saturday!!! Here is what Des has to say this week – and Des also reminds us that there still a few spots left for the Melbourne Cup tourGreetings John and the Fortuna team
Before releasing my three to follow this week a quick recap from last Saturday with all three horses selected running in the money. A win from either would’ve been nice.
In hindsight’s there were winners I found with my email tipping service last Saturday, 10 in fact!
The best result was Blackwood Star who we managed to back at 27 to one on the TAB surge button.
My email service remains available at $200 (gst inclusive) to take you right through these winter months until August 31 which gives you the best and value for all Nz gallops and top tier tips each Saturday for all races.
Simply email me dcoppins@xtra.co.nz for details
Let’s get into this weekend’s three to follow:
Cork, r8 at Tauranga
She’s a quality mare who invariably races well in a fresh state.
It’s her first run since December but she looked ready after a tidy trial at Rotorua the other week.
She likes Tauranga.
She won at the corresponding meeting both in 2021 and 2022, the latter when fresh and a winning margin of 7 lengths. She also won at the August meeting here last year.
We can expect a bold run from Cork who was also good enough last winter to be placed in the Winter Cup at Riccarton.
Read About It, r3 and Catherinenz r7 both at Riccarton
Robbie Patterson has a handy pair at Riccarton in the above.
Both look ready to win.
The former, a two year old, is unbeaten in three trials runs and two jump outs.
The sire of Read About It, Wrote, left an Oaks winner this season but we’ve all possibly noticed a few also doing well in recent weeks on challenging tracks.
Catherinenz is lightly tried and unknown in the heavy but she’s been working well in deep ground at New Plymouth and her pedigree suggests that she’s shouldn’t be troubled with the pending heavy track.
Good punting.
PS – the Melbourne Cup tour is up to 65 bookings – many repeats! If you are keen in coming on board don’t leave it too late. We close it off with our experienced tour operators Sporting Tours early in August.
