Fortuna Racing’s KNIPPENBERG wins again in Singapore – his 3rd win from 9 race day starts

KNIPPENBERG, the four  year old gelding by I Am Invincible out of Red Fez,  was too strong for his rivals in the Class 4 1200m Turf event for prizemoney of S$50,000 14th October. Ridden by Stable Apprentice Sarwi Jamil and was sent out a red hot odds on favourite by punters. Drawn nicely with plenty of speed coming from horses drawn wider, Jamil, with his 3kg claim, was content to let the speed go and camp in a nice spot one out from the rail just in behind the leaders. Traveling well in the run KNIPPENBERG was full of running on turning for home, but was a little tight for room for a stride or two, however, Jamil, following Trainer Donna Logan’s instructions to the letter, brought him to the outside where he gradually reeled in the leaders and went to the line half a  length clear in the smart time of 1.09.87 for the 1200m trip.

Fortuna Director John Galvin, watching from his home in New Zealand, was a happy man post race “Knippenberg has had an exceptional record in Singapore, winning three time now and running into the prizemoney on five other occasions from just nine starts and so has been a great performer for his ownership group. Lovely ride by Jamil and well done to Donna Logan, she has handled this horse perfectly”

Knippenberg’s Trainer, Donna Logan of Te Akau Racing Stables, was also pleased with the outcome. “I just love this horse, he never runs a bad race, he has been a tad unlucky not to win in his previous three starts but today was his day, aided by a super ride by Jamil. Well done to John Galvin and his big team of Fortuna racing supporters.”

Knippenberg – Making it 3 wins in Singapore – Kranji 15th October 2023

A jubilant Sarwi Jamil returns to scale after riding Knippenberg to his 3rd Singapore win

KNIPPENBERG had originally raced in Australia for his breeders Phoenix Thoroughbreds and been trained for them by the Ciaren Maher/David Eustace team. Showing just moderate form from two race day starts, his owners decided to offer him for sale at the Inglis Digital Sale (June 2022) – he was acquired by John Galvin for A$32,500 and sent to Singapore to race. John was assisted in his selection process by Mark Walker, the former Singapore based Trainer for Te Akau Racing and now leading Trainer for them in NZ

Knippenberg is owned by the Fortuna Knippenberg Syndicate, an Ownership Group of 46 individuals from New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia – he has now won three times and five minor placings from 9 race day starts and has accumulated over S$150k in stakes monies
