EATONS GOLD returns to winners circle in stylish fashion – Singapore

Thirteen months after he last raced, 5yo Gelding, EATONS GOLD (Jet Spur-Road Ranger) returned to racing in dramatic style, clearing out from his rivals to win by two lengths at the line in a Class 4 event over 1100 metres at Kanji racecourse in Singapore.

No stranger to the winners circle, having previously won four times in Singapore, EATONS GOLD had an enforced layoff after undergoing knee surgery in April 2014, followed by a long recuperative spell in Malaysia. He had returned to Singapore in great physical condition and had been very forward in his work in the weeks leading up to his return to racing. Ridden by Te Akau Racing’s very experienced senior apprentice Shafiq Rusof, EATON raced just off the speed, was on the bit most of the race and only needed the reins shaken at him and a couple of waves of the whip for him to assert his dominance in the run home. Fortuna Director, John Galvin, was quick to acknowledge the training effort by Premiership leading trainer, Mark Walker, in having EATONS GOLD ready to win fresh up from his long break. ”Mark had EATONS surgery, post surgery treatment, rehabilitation at the National Stud in Malaysia plus a solid pre training programme in Sheree Hamilton’s care at Penang all mapped out well in advance. Patience was the key and we have all been rewarded for that patience tonight.” he said.

Raced by the Fortuna Eatons Gold Syndicate, an ownership group of 29 people, EATONS GOLD has now won over S$260k in prize money during his time in Singapore.

HIGH CHAPARRAL progeny carrying all before them – Great opportunity to get involved in a classy HIGH CHAPARRAL Filly

The late HIGH CHAPARRAL needs little introduction as a Sire. A mighty race horse on the track, his first crops left horses of the calibre of SO YOU THINK, ITS A DUNDEEL, MONACO CONSUL etc. In recent weeks, his progeny have continued to win elite races both sides of the Tasman, with CONTRIBUTOR, FENWAY and HI WORLD all scoring in Group events in Australia and PONDEROSA MISS taking out the Group One Easter Handicap here in New Zealand. Undoubtedly, HIGH CHAPARRAL’s premature passing in 2014 has been a huge loss to the breeding industry.

Here is your chance to get involved in a physically outstanding filly that we acquired at the Karaka 2015 sale. Out of the four time winning mare DANCING FOREVER (by Keeper), she has a lovely pedigree and all of the physical attributes to be a fine racehorse. The mare has had one of her progeny to the races so far, the 3yo filly ANA (by Tavistock) who has won already, been spelled and is a recent trial winner about to resume racing. The broodmare market for nicely pedigreed, well performed Fillies and Mares is red hot and with this girl’s pedigree, any black type performance we could achieve with her on the track would provide her with great residual value at retirement. The picture below demonstrates what a fine looking athlete she is.

This Filly has yet to be advertised in the public arena (apart form being on Fortuna website, she has not featured in any of our print media advertising), so here is your opportunity to get involved before we do commence such advertising. Contact John 021 921 460 or email john@fortuna-nz.com if you would like to get involved or want to receive the information pack. We will also do shares for smaller than 2.5% so do not be shy to ask – we love having small shareholders in our syndicates.

SINGAPORE NEWS

The big news out of Singapore is Mark Walker’s continuing dominance of the Trainer’s Premiership. Hardly a weekend goes by that Walker trained runners are not returning to the Winners Circle and as we write this newsletter, Mark has 35 wins for the season (since 1st Jan 2015) and is 12 wins clear of his latest rival. Fortuna has had four individual winners in Singapore in that period with READY FORTUNE, SECRET SPICE, VON SNITZEL and EATONS GOLD all saluting and DOUBLE JEOPARDY and KING SAVINSKY running well without yet getting the win. Shortly, the Fortuna runners DURAN and LADY IFFRAAJ will travel to race in Singapore while the unnamed 2yo Geldings “Bart” (Postponed-Promissory) and “Jack” (Sakees Secret-Spin N Grin) will not be far behind.

Racing in Singapore has been a revelation to us these past four years with the fabulous prize money on offer, as has been emphasised with EATONS GOLD winning over $260k up there from just five wins. Members of the OUR RIVER DANCER Syndicate will be hoping that their charge can emulate EATON, as like him, OUR RIVER DANCER has had a long rehab after knee surgery and is due to trial shortly and get back to racing.
