Fortuna acquires 2yo Sydney Galloper FEDERATION (Written Tycoon-Bloomingdale Miss) at Inglis Online Sale – will race in Singapore
FEDERATION has had four starts as a 2yo in NSW in good 2yo Company  for a 2nd, a 3rd, a 4th and a 5th and was identified by Fortuna’s Singapore Trainer, Mark Walker pre sale as an ideal type for Singapore Racing. Mark’s assessment of his 2yo form as follows; “Good strong form in good company, nice action, probably not a natural 2yo and will develop and mature into a lovely 3yo who I believe will be ideally suited to distances between 1600 and 2000 metres”
A strong, well proportioned type by a Boom Sire in Written Tycoon and out of the four win mare Bloomingdale Miss (Shamardal) – he has the pedigree to match his physical attributes.
Under the revamped rules of the Singapore Turf Club, this horse is eligible to race in Restricted Maiden Grade – prizemoney S$85,000 – no that’s not a misprint (approx NZ$90k) on arrival in Singapore. As a rising 3yo he will also be a contender for the S$1m Singapore Guineas run in May 2019 and as a 4yo he will be a potential contender for the S$1.15m Singapore Derby run in July 2020. Singapore prizemoney has taken a huge lift since 1st January 2018, with all Group One races (eight in total throughout the season) now run for S$1 minimum.
Fully vetted pre sale and passing the mandatory Singapore Turf Club vet test, he will depart for Singapore in about six weeks time after having completed quarantine protocols in Australia. He should be ready to race in Singapore about the end of September/early October so not long to wait.
This sort of opportunity does not arise very often – that is to be able to buy a well bred 2yo with good Sydney form – Sydney racing is very strong – This horse was acquired by the China Horse Club as a yearling for A$340,000– he was bought as a Stallion prospect but has since been gelded, which is why he was put on the market by the China Horse Club – we acquired him yesterday for A$90,000– we were prepared to go to A$120,000 to buy him – so exceptional value here
